The General Overseer of the Omega Fire International Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleiman had cleared the air on the circumstances surrounding the celebration of Christmas (the date of birth of Jesus Christ and the celebration of his birth on December 25 every year.)
According to Church News Hub (video), the cleric said Jesus Christ was not born on December 25 and that his actual date of birth was unknown, therefore, Christians do not celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ but his birth.
He emphasized that Jesus Christ was born into this world one day, therefore, there is need to celebrate or remember His birth but not his birthday. He said further that when Emperor Constantine became a Christian, he was the first man to celebrate Christmas in the year 336. The early Christians celebrated Christmas on January 6 but later, the date was shifted to December 25 by Pope Julius.
The clergyman said further that the actual date of birth of Jesus Christ was not matter but what matter most was that Jesus Christ was born into this world and the angels of God celebrated His birth. If angels of God could celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, it is therefore mandated for us to celebrate Christmas which is the remembrance of the birth of Jesus Christ.
One can deduce from Apostle Johnson Suleiman’s analysis above that every Christians supposed to be celebrating Christmas, in remembrance of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour and Messiah of the world because if He was not born, He wouldn’t have died on the cross of calvary for the sin of the world.
Moreso, since the actual date of birth of Jesus Christ was not known, Christians do not celebrate His birthday but his birth. They remember that their Saviour was born into this world one day and who later died for them on the cross of calvary for the remission of their sins.
