A man, Nweke Chadikaobi, was yesterday arrested by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command over a cruel and ill-treatment perpetrated against a 10-year-old minor Oluebibe Emmanuel, at Range View Estate, Dawaki area of Abuja.

Disturbed by the levels of inhumane treatment, a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said the FCT Commissioner of Police, Babaji Sunday ordered an immediate investigation, the arrest of the suspect, recovery of the minor for medical attention, and other forms of intervention needed in the protection of her human right and dignity.
She said the suspect was arrested and upon interrogation, admitted to the commission of the crime, stating that the minor bed wetted and committed other offences.
The PPRO revealed in the statement that the victim has been handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of child trafficking in person (NAPTIP) for special care, adding that investigation into the matter continues, and that subsequent developments would be duly communicated to the public.
“The Commissioner of Police while urging the good people of the FCT not to keep mute about such occurrences in their neighbourhoods, taking no exceptions or restraint in reporting same to the Police, said a happy child leads to a happy people and by the effect, a happy nation void of crime and criminality,” the statement added
